Russell Evans

Russell Evans, Managing Director

Entrepreneurial, gregarious and sociable, Russell Evans is a marketing communications expert and a founding director of The Works. Originally from Wales he is an honorary local who fell in love with the place over 20 years ago when he was here on a graduate trainee programme for Grand Metropolitan as a marketing analyst and salesman with Norwich Brewery where he ended up as brand manager for Budweiser, Fosters and Carlsberg. From beer he moved on to birds at Buxted Poultry and then into the agency world at BJP. He has never looked back. He has transformed The Works into the vibrant, young agency it is today through sheer hard work and determination. He is also a director and share holder in Magic Online Solutions.

Liz Cooper MICIPR, Account Director

An experienced business-to-business account director, Liz brings strategic PR and integrated marketing communications planning capability to the team. Clients including Sarnafil, Barenbrug, Young’s Seafoods, ATP International, Brigade Electronics and Flakt Woods benefit from Liz’s expertise ensuring that public relations is fully integrated with advertising, online, direct mail and other marketing methods. As well as implementing extensive sport sponsorship programmes for major athletic events and negotiating a two year terrestrial TV sponsorship and corporate hospitality programme for the British motorcycling championship, Liz has experience working for the BBC as a researcher giving her an insider’s knowledge of what appeals to the media.

Colin Turner MCIM MCIPR, Account Director

With four decades of extensive media experience, Colin has delivered considered strategic media campaigns for clients Cunard and the QE2, Carrefour, Boulton & Paul, Jewson and London Electricity with career highlights including the media management of the open top bus victory tour and civic reception for the FA Cup-winning Southampton football team. Colin is revered for his innate ability to oversee all media marketing routes from brand creation to tactical marketing communications including internal and external comms to deliver on corporate aims. Colin established his own advertising company, FSW, and was instrumental in negotiating its merger with The Word and its sister agencies The Works and Magic to produce one of the largest integrated marketing communications agencies in the East of England.

Rosie Duckworth

Rosie Duckworth, Account Director

With ten years PR experience, and after learning the ropes at the UK’s No.1 public relations agency Good Relations, Rosie has experience working on national brands including Pantene Pro-V, British Meat and The Daily Mail Ideal Home Show. She may have travelled the world but she returned to her hometown of Norwich and is single-handedly responsible for building the PR division at The Works from the ground up.

Amy Ellingham, Account Manager

With six years’ experience as a journalist and magazine editor in the beauty and spa sector before a career change to public relations, Amy joins The Word as a business-to-business specialist account manager. As well as being the founding editor of Ireland’s leading beauty trade publication, she has written for top consumer titles including the Irish Independent newspaper and women’s glossy InStyle, and as a result takes particular pride in delivering strong stories to the high standards journalists require in her PR role. Amy now has over two years’ agency experience, conducting successful media relations campaigns for clients including Toro, Barenbrug, Sarnafil and HolyStone. She is also passionate about creative writing and has an MA in Scriptwriting from the University of East Anglia.

Sophie McCartney

Sophie McCartney, Account Manager

Creative, lively and passionate, Sophie has 3 years PR experience and a background specialising in food and drink. After spending time working for 360 Communications and Wild Card Public Relations, both in London, Sophie has relocated to Norwich to utilise her exceptional media relations and broad creative thinking on regional accounts including Sportspark and Norfolk County Council’s Adult Education service.

Nell Sleet

Nell Sleet – PR Assistant

Hardworking, astute and enthusiastic Nell joined the team at The Word in September 2009 as out PR Assistant, whilst completing the final year of her BA in English Literature. Nell spends time with The Word to build her knowledge of PR and offers the team PR support. Nell’s previous experience includes time spent at London publishing houses and a journalism project based in South Africa.
